The Philosophy Department at Texas A&M University is pleased to
announce a daylong celebration of the life and work of Professor John
J. McDermott. The celebration will take place on Sunday, March 15,
2009 at the Hilton College Station and Conference Center, in College
Station, Texas. This event is sponsored by the Melbern G. Glasscock
Center for Humanities Research at Texas A&M University
, the College of
Liberal Arts at Texas A&M University
, the Philosophy Department at
Texas A&M University
, and the Society for the Advancement of American
Philosophy
.

This celebration will include presentations by noted scholars,
testimonials from Professor McDermott's students, colleagues and
friends, unscripted expressions of friendship and gratitude, and
reflections by Professor McDermott himself. The event has been
organized to provide everyone in attendance with multiple
opportunities to visit with Professor McDermott.

You may be interested to know that we have scheduled this celebration
to follow the annual conference of the Society for the Advancement of
American Philosophy, which will take place from March 12-14, also at
the Hilton College Station and Conference Center in College Station.
