Areas of Interest

Mason's primary research interest lies in questions that exist at the crossroads of ethics and political philosophy, with a particular emphasis on the formation and manifestation of virtue in the public sphere.  Philosophers of particular concern include Aristotle, John Locke, William James, and Robert Nozick.  He also has strong secondary interests in American philosophy (both early and classical thought), the philosophy of education, and Native American philosophy.
