Hamburg

We found the old port city of Hamburg
to be a bit more "gritty" than Berlin.

We got up early on Sunday morning to visit the weekly fish market on the docks.
It was raining and cold, but the Germans crowded the sprawling market nonetheless.
In the music hall at the center of the fish market we found Germans happily downing pints of beer at 9:00 a.m.
Gary said, "When in Hamburg..."

On a nearby dock,
people were buying fish
from the very boat that landed 'em.

Near the port, we were thrilled to find a neighborhood
crammed with Portuguese restaurants.

Pining for Iberia, we ate at the Sagres restaurant
two nights in a row.

And in a nearby pastelaria,
Gary located his favorite Portuguese beer.
