Jonathan Newman (Environmental Biology, University of Guelph) and Gary Varner (Philosophy, Texas A&M):
Environmental Ethics for Environmentalists: A Critical Analysis of the Arguments in Favor of Biodiversity Conservation (book manuscript in preparation).
This book will provide an overview of the main positions in environmental ethics via critical analysis of arguments
commonly given in favor of conserving biodiversity. The goal is to provide non-philosophers (including college
science students and environmental activists) with an overview of the moves and counter-moves standardly made
in defense of the main theories in environmental ethics: holism, biocentric individualism, sentientism, and anthropocentrism.
