Pizza construction
Usually, Melissa starts the sauce below while I make trashy white pizza dough.
Total preparation time: about XXX minutes
Cooking time: about XXX minutes
Yield: two 12" pizza pie doughs
Vegetarian: lacto-ovo vegetarian
Here's what you need for the sauce:
- a quart jar of XXX tomato sauce
- a teaspoon of white sugar
- onions, chopped up
- a half pound or so of mushrooms, sliced
And here are the other toppings you need:
- green onions, chopped up
- mozzarella cheese, grated
- feta cheese, broken up
- parmesan cheese, shredded
- four or five strips of Morning Star Farms' immitation "bacon," cooked crispy
- a handfull of cilantro leaves
The only other things you need are:
Here's what to do:
- put the pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 390 degrees
- roll out one half of a batch of dough to the size of the pizza stone
- poke the dough with a fork at various places
- gently press some grated mozarella cheese into the top of the dough
- bake about XXX minutes
- add toppings thus:
- half of the sauce
- mozzarella
- onions
- olive slices
- "bacon"
- parmesan
- cilantro leaves
- bake until the cheese on the toppings is browning (broil if need be)
You're left with sauce and dough to make a second pizza.
